The standards for thermal imaging of building fabric in the UK are:
- Building Research Establishment Report 176 (1991) - A practical guide to infra-red thermography for building surveys.
- BS EN 13187:1999 - Thermal performance of buildings - Qualitative detection of thermal irregularities in building envelopes.
Further information is provided in various guides and Codes of Practices, including those published by the UK Thermography Association.
Although a whole range of equipment is available, professional surveys must have a camera with a sufficiently high resolution to detect small anomalies at a reasonable distance. It is recommended equipment with detectors of 320 x 240 (=76,800) pixels is used to detect anomalies.
At Fylde Thermal Imaging during surveys we utilise equipment to record temperature, humidity, wind speed, and a Flir B335 professional thermal imaging camera designed specifically for building surveys. |
